How To Earn Online Income?

How To Earn Online Income

How many times have you asked yourself, how to earn online income?

In theory, you know that there are endless possibilities but nothing concrete comes to your mind.

Even if you do your research, nothing really sparks your interest.

So, where does that leave us?

Just give up and let other people follow their dreams?

NO, NO, and NO!

But, and it’s a BIG BUT, you have to take a different approach.

Let’s explore this further.

Find Your Passion First

“Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.” – Rumi

I know, this in not what you wanted to hear.

You are thinking to yourself, when I find out how to make money online, I will become passionate about it.

This is probably true, but it does not work like that.

If the direct approach was right for you, you would already be making a lot of money online already.

I had to learn this the hard way. It was a tough lesson as I pretty much had to put my blind trust into something that I didn’t know where it was going.

Hear me out.

Forget making money for now.

You might already know what your passion is, then you are one step ahead.

But if you do not know what your passion is, you will have to do some exploring.

Again, don’t think in terms of what has an income potential, just simply what do you enjoy doing?

It could be anything, knitting, sawing, gardening, cooking, martial arts, literally the possibilities are endless.

Now imagine having a platform where you can express your thoughts about it, give advice, show people new things, build a community of like-minded people in your particular interest group.

Now, doesn’t that sound exciting?

For me, I wanted to help people, to inspire them and to give them hope for a better tomorrow.

At first, I thought to myself that this was silly, who wants to listen to what I have to say.

Big Surprise – People Want To Listen To What I Have To Say

“There is a candle in your heart, ready to be kindled. There is a void in your soul, ready to be filled. You feel it, don’t you?” ― Rumi

With 7.7 billion people in the world and 4.4 billion of them on the internet, trust me, there are people that have same interests as you and they want to hear what you have to say.

Now that you are convinced that people want to listen to you, let’s proceed:

So how do we do that? How do you build a platform where you can share your experiences, give advice, and share opinions with like-minded people?

There are many different ways but the best way for me was to build my own website.

I know, that sounds scary and intimidating but don’t you worry. There are platforms out there that will guide you step by step how to do it and provide lots of support if you get stuck.

Trust me, it’s not as hard as you think!

Anyone with any basic knowledge how to use a computer and the internet can do it.

Is It Hard?

Yes and no!

To build your basic website is very easy. It will take a few minutes.

But to come up with quality content, that will take some efforts and time.

Keep in mind, you have picked a topic or an idea that you are passionate about and have lots to say about.

Now, you just need to put some effort in making it nice and presentable.

Don’t worry about being a writer. Look at this post. I literally picked a topic and I pretend I have a friend sitting in front of me and I just write as I would speak to him/her. I imagine what kind of questions this person might ask as I’m speaking and try to address that in my writing.

Very simple, but you have to understand that it takes effort and time.

So, now we have an interest group (niche), we have a website that we keep adding content to; now what?

What’s next?

“Everyone has been made for some particular work, and the desire for that work has been put in

satisfaction and fulfillment

 every heart.” – Rumi

Now you take a minute to acknowledge your amazing creation.

Here are some of the things you will be feeling:

  • excitement for what you have created and will still create
  • a sense of direction
  • a sense of accomplishment
  • fulfillment as you are connecting with other people

I can promise you, you will love your website like your own child.

So When And How Will We Earn Online Income?

There are a million ways to make money from your website. Affiliate marketing, ads, product reviews, sell products and services; just to name a few.

At this point a plan will start formulating in your mind as to how you can monetize your amazing website. You have build a great website (or two, or more – I have two so far), you have quality content on it, you have traffic and following on your website. You have something that is very valuable.

When you get to this point, naturally you have learned so much. You will have an idea in your head how you want to leverage your website to earn money online.

How Can I Start Today?

Wish I would have seen your article when I was first starting!  I did start a blog with my passion, but problem is that it is really not a good passion to capitalize on.  I keep thinking I need to go another route with another passion, but I keep wondering if I will have enough time in the day to maintain two.

    1. Anna says:

Yes, that was my experience as well. I started with one niche which I was very passionate about but as I was building that website I had another idea. The second website took much longer to build, and that is ok, because I was still mainly focusing on the first one. Another thing that I realized was that I can probably leverage both websites within each other (for example do links). I’m still learning how to do that.

My suggestion is, what do you have to lose? Start the second website and see how it goes.

Good Luck and all the best.

  2. Andy says:

I think I had a similar experience in the early days of building out my website. When I started I really wasn’t sure where I was going with it. I guess the one thing I did know is that my chosen niche was and is one that I am very interested in, I already had rows and rows of books on the subject and it is a topic that I want to learn more and more about. So in many respects, what better way to learn a subject than to try and teach it on a website that you build as you are learning yourself. Of course, there are risks to that approach. You risk portraying yourself as having knowledge and expertise that you don’t have. So in my case, I have to be very careful always to remember where I am and put myself in the mental position of sharing alongside others who are also discovering the information for the first time. It is interesting to see how far we come and how things change. Thanks for the inspiring article. Best regards, Andy

Hi Andy, I 100% agree with you. Misrepresenting or pretending anything is not a good idea. To me honesty and transparency are definitely the best way to connect with people. People have funny ways of seeing right through you. The good news is that there a lot of people in your particular niche, or any other, with different levels of expertise. For example, Wealthy Affiliate, I can defiantly appreciate the expertise of the veterans but when I was first starting I was really interested in hearing the experiences of people that were at the same level as me or just a step ahead.

Andy, this was really great point, thank you for making it. Many people think that they have to become an expert on something before they are allowed to have an opinion or offer suggestions. That is not always the case, we just have to be honest about it.

  3. Fatoumata says:

This is soo true. We often start with thinking about the money part, but not the helping part. If you are creating content then your goal should be helping instead of earning.

The earning part comes later. I myself learned it the hard way. When choosing a niche it’s important to choose what you like. Like you mentioned.

It does not have to be your hobby, but a topic you have some knowledge about and you have interest writing about. For me I chose something that I used everyday. I wasn’t really passionate about, but I had some knowledge and found it interesting.

    Thanks for the reminder.

    1. Anna says:

It’s very tempting to think in terms how much money I can make on this. It might work sometimes, but in my experience, if you flip it around and focus on your passion, interests, hobbies, just things that you enjoy, the money part will follow.

This is very hard to do, because at first you are investing a lot of effort and time into building something without seeing how this is going to work. So, being able to trust the process is very important.
